MUSTAFA Mayambala, the vice chairman Uganda Taxi Operators Federation (UTOF) says, President Museveni and Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) took the best decission of covering and redeveloping of Nakivubo Channel because it was a hiding place for criminals.

While featuring on Dream tv morning show ‘The Agenda’, Mr. Mayambala said gang of thieves who terrorise passengers in both New and Old taxi Park, everytime they are chased, entered into Nakivubo Channel and it was hard for security to arrest them.
“Now that the channel is covered and fully redevelopement with shops, taxi parks are not only safe for our passengers but also, we will get more passengers as taxi operators. Thanks to Haji Hamis Kiggundu for giving us business. We are so grateful as the taxi industry.” Revelead Mustafa Mayamba.
He reasons that, as these new shops will attract customers, same customers will be using taxis for their travel and this maths works for the taxi industry. Mustafa Mayambala told viewers that the whole area has changed for better, it looks neat, well organised and shops are magnificent, an advantage to them in the taxi industry.
For starters, Nakivubo channel runs between the Old and New taxi parks. With the new and fresh buildings, the place looks more beautiful now that street vendors have been evicted.
On the issue of floods, Mayambala said, everytime it rained, taxi parks flooded and reduced on the numbers of passengers. But ever since Hamis Kiggundu widened the Channel, would be floods run in the channel.
Mayambala said, “Nakivubo Channel redevelopment has a multiplier effect. Our taxi parks are free of dirty water from floods running through eats sold to our passengers. We can now perfectly maintain the higien of the area. We cant thank Hamis Kiggundu enough. Government was spot on.”

Redevelopment of Nakivubo channel is completed and on it built structures /shops as direcred by the Head of State.
