WHEREAS NUP Mayor Emannuel Sserunjogi is said to have servived under the influence of the powers that be in Central Government, Mr. Kagenyi Lukka, the Deputy Resident District Commissioner in charge of Kawempe Division is in celebrations upon the performance of ruling National Resistance Movement making a significant breakthrough in the just concluded Divisional elections!
In the new term, effective 12th May, Kawempe Division Urban Council will have a composition of 47 directly elected and special interest groups councillors. And guess what? NRM has bagged 33 seats (28 directly elected + 5 special interest groups) out of 47! Thanks to DRCC Kagenyi Lukka, for the efforts.
“For the first time in history, NRM will form the majority in the council, marking a significant shift in the political trajectory of this hitherto opposition stronghold division. We are erasing the NUP hegemony!” Reads a Statement from DRCC Kagenyi’s political desk!
Mr. Kagenyi says, as the majority party, Kawempe Division Urban Council will have the Speaker, Deputy Speaker, and Deputy Mayor slots, ensuring efficient and effective service delivery.
President Museveni’s performance in the division has surged to 44.3% in the recently concluded presidential election, up from 27.2% in 2021!
“We have even scooped Kawempe South constituency seat for NRM party from opposition NUP! This improvement is courtesy of Government programs aimed at annihilating poverty, improving social services, and infrastructural development.” Reveals Mr. Kagenyi, adding that, Upgrading Mulago specialized women and neo Natal hospital, working on feeder roads to bitumen standards, Parish Development Model (PDM) and Ghetto programs have pulled supporters to NRM.
Kagenyi thanked Kawempe Division residents for shunning opposition and embracing development!
He said, “In a special way I take this opportunity to thank the NRM leadership in Kawempe District under the able Leadership of Hon Madinah Nsereko, the office of the Deputy RCC Kawempe and staff for the robust and vibrant Mobilisation strategies that has enabled us to achieve as a team.”
