AT LEAST, 94 pupils of Esteem Junior School, will be confirmed in the Anglican faith on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at 8am, at the school campus, in Ssumbwe, 9 miles on Mityana road, Wakiso district.
The service will be presided over by the Bishop of Namirembe Diocese, His Lordship Rt. Rev. Moses Banja.
The Bishop will also dedicate to the Lord, 150 Primary Seven candidates ahead of their final examinations, due next month.
At this fastest growing school, preparations are in high gear and the head of the School, Mr. Ntale Moses Ndibammwe has informed us that parents of the confirmands and those of P7 candidates, have been invited to attend the Prayers.
“Parents are encouraged to arrive by 8am, attend in person and keep time. We shall also have visitation for only P7 candidates on the same day of the dedication. P7 parents are encouraged to come and interact with their children and teachers after dedication, success cards are also expected that day but no money bouquets will be allowed.” Said, Headteacher Ntale.
For starters, a bishop confirms pupils in a religious service, where candidates reaffirm their baptismal promises and the bishop anoints them while laying on hands. This is a significant church ceremony where the bishop asks God to strengthen the individual with the Holy Spirit to live out their faith.
The ceremony is a sacrament where the individual is strengthened with God’s grace to live a life of faith.
Last week, Bishop Banja was at St. Stephen’s Church of Uganda Kitende, where he confirmed 98 children.
