WITH a few months remained for the country to go to the Parliamentary Elections, the political temperature is boiling in Kira Municipality.
Moses Katunda, a student of law at Kampala International University (KIU) has announced intentions to unseat PFF MP Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda, the area Member of Parliament.
Katunda is accusing seasoned legistator like Nganda of being a good speaker but the three terms Member of Parliament, has not been able to change the lives of his electorate.
“Yes, Ssemujju, like some of his other colleagues, have debated so well but they are out of touch with the reality and many of them, have instead enriched themselves. The poor Ugandans have continued to remain poor. If look at the people of Kasokoso and Kireka in Kira Municipality, what have they benefited from Ssemujju’s leadership? When has he ever talked about their situation, in Parliament? Instead, he has transformed himself, he is a very rich man,” said Moses Katunda.
Katunda, who is also a senior pastor at a local church in Kira municipality, revealed, for years he has been using his little savings, to help the poor, Semujju failed to lobby for, in the August House.
“Its time, l go to Parliament, l lobby for them more social services. We have many young boys and girls, who completed senior six but looks like they have no future. I will make sure, Government builds a vocational school in our area, so that, they can be skilled, get employment or set up their own businesses,” he adds.
The high population in Kira because of being urban based area, dominated by the youth, gives Katunda high chances, of winning.
Asked why he is not contesting on any Party card, Katunda said he believes in himself, “Parties dont solve people’s problems, it takes a selfless leader to fight and lobby for his voters.”
He is already moving village to village in Kira Municipality, asking for support especially from youth groups and Ghettos. Wish him good luck!
