OPPOSITION National Unity Platform (NUP) Party legislator for Kampala, Hon. Shamim Malende today visited families of late Joseph Kibuuka in Ssembuule, Kabowa Parish, Rubaga South Constituency.
From there, Hon. Malende continued to the family of NUP missing political prisoner Michael Ssemuddu in Kinoonya Parish, Masanafu, Rubaga North represented by NUP MP Abubaker Kawalya. Another NUP MP Aloysius Mukasa, represents Rubaga South in Parliament.
At the homes of the two families, Hon. Malende, who was discharged from a Nairobi Hospital, two weeks ago, vowed that, be it when, justice will prevail.
A renown Human Rights defender and lawyer, MP Malende said, “At a right time, we will know the killers of freedom fighter Kibuuka Joseph. The killers will one day pay for their crimes committed.”
About Ssemuddu’s whereabouts, Malende who was welcomed by his brother councilor Jordan Mugerwa, assured the family how NUP Party bosses will never rest until all political prisoners regain their freedom.

Ssemuddu and Kibuuka’s families thanked NUP Party for the endless support saying they are eagerly waiting for justice. For starters, Ssemuddu was allegedly abducted in 2020 during national riots following then NUP presidential candidate Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi’s arrest in Luuka district. For Kibuuka, he was shot by a trigger happy officer during a peaceful demonstration.

Everywhere Hon. Malende passed, she was welcomed by NUP Party supporters, singing songs praising their supreme leader Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi. She greeted Butaala-Ndeeba market vendors who pledged to vote and return her to Parliament, come January 2026. Here is the pictorial:
