NEWLY elected Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among is today Friday expected to hold talks with Buganda Kingdom Premier Owek. Charles Peter Mayiga in the VIP lounge ahead of the return of Rt. Hon. Jacob Lokori Oulanyah’s body later in the day.
In a message from Mr. Joseph Sabiiti who is the Press Secretary to Speaker Rt. Hon. Anita Among, Katikkiro Mayiga will reach at 9am.
“On his arrival, Owek. Charles Peter Mayiga will sign the Condolence book of fallen Speaker Rt. Hon. Jacob Oulanyah at Parliament on Friday at 10am. He will thereafter hold a short meeting with the Rt. Hon. Speaker in the VIP lounge.” Reads a message from Mr. Sabiiti.
We are told, the two, Speaker and her guest will address media at Parliament.
According to our sources at Bulange, Mengo the headquarters of Buganda Kingdom, members of Premier Mayiga’s entourage will have Kingdom ministers and Speaker of the Great Lukiiko (Buganda Parliament).
At Parliament, Mayiga and his team will be received by among others, leadership of the Buganda Parliamentary caucus headed by Butambala County MP Muhammad Muwanga Kivumbi.
This news website has learnt that, Premier Mayiga will use this visit to congratulate Rt. Hon. Anita Among upon her election as Speaker of Parliament. He is also expected to whisper at Speaker Anita about Hon. Francis Zaake’s woes.
Yesterday, Katikkiro Mayiga received Chief Justice Owiny Dollo at Bulange Mengo, who went their to deliver his apology to His Majesty the Kabaka of Buganda Ronald Muwenda Mutebi over lies Chief justice made against Buganda’s King. 
In his address, Mayiga thanked His Lordship Chief Justice Owiny-Dollo for his apology saying, “The people of Acholi and the people of Buganda have more in common than what divides us. Actually we share a common history. We should therefore focus on preserving the dignity of the late Jacob Oulanyah.”
“We should give him a deserving send-off next week, with his contributions to Uganda not eluded by debates and discussions and anger well knowning that, we have undertaken this process and I don’t think that there is more that needs to be done other than moving forward.”
Mayiga told Chief Justice and other very important people who escorted Owiny-Dollo to Bulange Mengo.
He urged his vistors and all people of Buganda to assume the duty to ensure that, “We continue with the reconciliatory process and to depen the unity of the people of Buganda and Acholi and deepen the unity of all Ugandans. We believe, that of vital importance.”

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT OWEK. CHARLES PETER MAYIGA
Believed to be the 43rd Katikkiro of Buganda Kingdom, Owek. Charles Peter Mayiga is a lawyer by profession, a cultural leader and author.  
Katikkiro Mayiga was appointed to that position by the Kabaka of Buganda, His Majesty Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II of Buganda, in May 2013, replacing Engineer John Baptist Walusimbi. 
Charles Peter Mayiga was born in Kasanje Village, Kabonera Parish, Masaka District, Central Uganda. His parents are Ssaalongo Cyprian Mukasa and Nnaalongo Rebecca Kyese Mukasa.
He started his education at Butale Primary School and Nkoni Primary School. Went to St. Henry’s College Kitovu and Kitante Hill School, O’Level education. He completed his A’level at St. Mary’s College Kisubi. 
Holds a Degree of Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Makerere University and a Diploma in Legal Practice, obtained from Law Development Center, Kampala.
Started working in 1991. Charles Peter Mayiga has been working closely with the elders of the Kingdom of Buganda, sharpening his knowledge and understanding of the customs and traditions of Buganda.
In June 1991, Charles Peter Mayiga was appointed Admnistrative Secretary and assistant to the Secteray General of the Ssaabataka’s Supreme Council (the name given to Buganda Lukiiko at the time since it was still outlawed under the 1967 Constitution).
Later, he was appointed Principal Administrative Secretary up to 1994.  He was appointed to member of the Lukiiko in 1994 and in 1995, Ssaabasajja Kabaka appointed him Deputy Minister in Charge of the Lukiiko. In 1996, he named minister of the Youth.
In the same year, he was named Minister for Youth and Cabinet Affairs. In 2002, the Kabaka appointed him Minister of Youth, Cabinet Affairs and Lukiiko Affiars, Information and Kingdom Spokesman.
He served in that capacity until he was appointed Prime Minister of Buganda in May 2013.
Charles Peter Mayiga is a Law Partner in Buwule Mayiga & Company Advocates, based in Kampala. He is married to Margaret Mayiga, an alumnus of Trinity College Nabbingo. He is the author of a book titled King on the Throne, which chronicles the story of the restoration of the Kingdom of Buganda. He is also the author of Buganda ku Ntikko – a book in Luganda that explains Buganda’s key five tenets (Ensonga Ssemasonga Ettaano). 

FINAL BURIAL PROGRAM FOR THE LATE SPEAKER OULANYAH OUT
● Friday 1st April 2022: At 2:00pm, Body arrives at Entebbe International Airport.
● Sunday 3rd – Monday 4th April 2022: At 9:00am, body will be at the home of late Speaker Oulanyah in Muyenga, Kampala where friends and well wishers will pay their last respect. 
● Tuesday 05th April 2022: At 9:00 am, the body will be  moved to the Parliament of Uganda for members of Parliament to pay their last respect. 
●  On Wednesday 6th April 2022: At 9:00am, body will be taken to Kololo ceremonial grounds for a State Funeral.
● On the same day at 3:00pm, the casket will be airlifted to Omoro, Lalogi village,the late Speaker’s ancestral home.
● Thursday 7th April 2022: Body will be at Lalogi, for final respect by members of  public.
● Friday 8th April 2022 is a public holiday as declared by the Head of State Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. Burial ceremony of Rt. Hon. Oulanyah will start at 9:00am.
