TODAY evenning, The Head of State President Museveni is expected to address the Nation amidst Coronavirus Pandemic that is spreading like bush fire in different countries.
Mr. Museveni in his address, he is set to pass a presidential directive shutting down all Universities, Colleges and other learning institutions until further notice.
The president will also order no further political gatherings, markets are likely to be closed, no more Church and mosque congregations, and all this will be done to allow government monitor the spread of Coronavirus which is already eating up our neighbours in Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania and South Sudan.
During a crisis meeting held at State House Entebbe yesterday, it was agreed between the Health ministry, inter-religious council and medical experts to shutown all places of public gatherings.
“I am going to direct all schools and churches closed as out teams study the situation.” Said the president whose pronouncement is expected today evenning.
WEST ANKOLE BISHOP SUSPENDS CHURCH SERVICE
In a communication signed by Rev. Didas Natweta, Diocesan Secretary West Ankole Diocese, the office of the Bishop of West Ankole Diocese informs the general public that pastoral visits and confirmation services have been suspended in efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19 disease.
“The suspension is in accordance with the Ministry of Health and Church of Uganda guidelines. Archdeacons, vicars, curates, lay leaders and the entire tire Laity are here by informed that the suspension starts with immediate effect and they should enforce this measure.” Reads the letter dated March 16th 2020.
Letter says, “We are praying that our Country, Uganda be spared from this Pandemic as we also continue to intercede for our suffering sister countries. The suspension will be lifted when the environment is safe for us to continue doing God’s work.”
