OPPOSITION National Unity Platform’s Mpigi District LCV Vice Chairperson Aisha Nakirijja faces arrest by the State House Anti Corruption Unit (SHACU), following a job bribery scandal in which her boss, Martin Ssejjemba, the District Chairman, was arrested on Friday, last week!
On Monday, at High Court of Uganda and Chief Magistrate’s Court, Mpigi, District Chairman Ssejjemba, who also subscribes to the opposition NUP, alongside two other suspects; Fred Kirumira, the Chairperson of the District Service Commission and Sarah Nakamoga the Commission’s Secretary were aligned before Grade one Magistrate Tumuhimbise Varelia and the trio were charged and remanded to Kitalya Maximum Security Prison until July 8, 2025 on allegations of soliciting bribes from government job applicants.

The magistrate clearly said, there are more suspects still at large, who will be added on the court file as soon as they are arrested. Aisha Nakirijja is among those on wanted and was set to be arrested on Monday but her gods saved her!

Among hundreds of people who attendent court proceedings on Monday, Ms. Aisha Nakirijja was one of them but fled from the court room on being tipped off by an insider that SHACU operatives were around and wanted her arrested over corruption charges.

This leading investigative news website can exclusively report that, Ms. Nakirijja is among the key suspects in this case, still at large and State House operatives have vowed to hunt for her wherever she is hiding, get arrested and answer for her crimes.
Aisha Nakirijja is said to have taken part in selling government jobs and her name is mentioned in land grabbing deals. According to Intelligence reports, Aisha has been on many occasions playing a broker role allegedly deployed by his boss, Martin Ssejjemba.
“It’s a very big racket and all will be arrested. Just give it time. We have full intelligence report on everyone, however much those still at large go into hiding, we will smoke them out.” Said a Security operative following the arrests of Mpigi district officials on corruption and bribery charges. He revealed to us that they will remain with in Mpigi until all suspected are netted.
Aisha Nakirijja comes from Kayabwe where she serves as a female councilor to the District Council. If arrested, she will join the three, charged of demanding money by menace in a scheme were job seekers were allegedly asked to pay bribes ranging from UGX 1M to UGX 15M to be employed by the District Service Commission.

The arrests came a few days after Presidential PDM tour in Mpigi District from which the Head of State got complaints from the people of Mpigi district about high corruption rate at the district headquaters, specifically in the office of District Chairman, his deputy and Public Service Commission and also land grabbing which involves their would be, leaders.

“H.E the President’s directed SHACU to intervene. We’ve launched investigations in Greater Mpigi—targeting the sale of government jobs, misuse of the UGX 1B Road Fund, payroll fraud, and issues concerning land grabbing.” Reads a statement from State House Anti Corruption Unit.

On the directives of The President, SHACU head, Brig. Gen. Henry Isoke and his team embarked on the investigations and later, the three suspects were harvested, looking for others who are on the run.

In court, the three denied the allegations. Ssejjemba’s lawyer, counsel Simon Peter Kawuki who doubles as an aspirant for Mpigi district Chairman on NUP ticket applied for the bail of his client citing his poor health condition. Counsel Kawuki said his client has a problem at the lower abdomen that he should be given a bail to seek for medical attention from a big health facility. The presiding Magistrate, instead ruled that, the bail application will be looked into, on Monday July 8, 2025. This is a developing story!
