IN their bid to improve Village Health Teams’ functionality to contain Covid-19, Manafwa District on Wednesday embarked on distribution of the necessary and vital Tool Kits.
Launched by the area Deputy RDC Kagenyi Lukka in Manafwa Town Council at the DHO’s office,the items will be a big relief to the health ‘foot soldiers’ who are based at the grassroot.
Handing over the items that included a medical box, thermometer, masks, job aid among others, the workaholic Presidential representative challenged the different recipients drawn from Manafwa Town Council, Buwagogo Town Council, Buwangani Town Council, Buweswa Sub-county, Khabudola Sub-county, Buwamu Sub-county, Bukofu sub-county, Mayenze Sub-county to put the items to be better use.
“These items you’re receiving today come at a time when we really need them.However, I appeal to all of you recipients to use them as expected.Don’t be tempted to sell them off as the repercussions shall be dire”. DRDC Kagenyi emphasized, noting that medical concerns facing their profession are being addressed by government gradually.
Flanked by the District Health Officer, Dr. Dan Wenani, the RDC encouraged medics to cherish their profession since it’s a calling whose cardinal role is to serve humanity above self.
Revealing that Manafwa District is so far doing well as regards containing the pandemic, Kagenyi encouraged the wanainchi to prioritize nutritious foods as a way of balancing their diet.
Kagenyi,who encouraged his audience to continue supporting government programs revealed that Uganda is doing well in the whole of Africa as regards programs championed by Village Health Teams.
On his part, Dr.Wenani commended government for availing the items in their time of need.
“The items have been delivered when needed most.We promise to ensure their proper use without any diversions”, Kagenyi promised before thanking the Deputy RDC for his bottom to top approach that has since eased their work.
The 1317 VHT Tool Kits from the Ministry of Health will help to improve VHT functionality in response to covid 19 and any other related activities.
