MOTOR SPORT: HOW DIPU RUPARELIA WON TOP FMU JOB

ON SATURDAY evenning, former Motor ace Dipu Devesh Ruparelia was elected President of the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of Uganda (FMU) in a highly contested race held at Kati Kati restaurant.
A former rally driver legend whose name made news headlines between 1990-2014 and one of the founders of Uganda Motorsports Club (UMOSPOC) got 36 votes beating incumbent Dusman Okee 14 votes, former rally drivers Jack Wavamunno got 25 while Geoffrey Nsamba collected only 11 votes.
After being announced the winner, Dipu Rupparelia promised team work.
He said, “Iam not going to work as Dipu, we are going to work as a team together with every stakeholder.”
Dipu becomes the seventh FMU President for a term that runs for four years and will be assisted by Shemmy Ssenkatuka – Vice President, Jeff Kabagambe – Deputy Vice President for rallying, Kisitu Mayanja – Deputy Vice President (Motor Cross), Irene Blick – General Secretary and Ziwa Ernest -Assistant General is secretary.
A total of 86 eligible members voted out of 90 on the voters register
